From a purely technically standpoint, creating an iPhone version of Triple Pop would be really quite easy. Any games programmer could probably code it on the iPhone without much trouble, and it'd be even easier for me personally since I have my original code as a starting point.

Unfortunately, I'm unlikely to do it for a couple of reasons. The first is I simply don't have any inclination to code in my spare time. I can barely keep any sort of regular posting schedule together for this blog as it is, let alone actually take on a development project outside of my day job.

The second is that I don't have any rights to the game or the code, it's completely owned by Nokia. It may be the case that they no longer care about Triple Pop, and copycat games appearing on other platforms wouldn't bother them. I doubt that though, and anything infringing on Nokia's property would surely be met with lawyers and worse, especially since Apple and the iPhone are their direct competitors. <a href="http://worldofstuart.excellentcontent.com/clones.htm" rel="nofollow">Ripping off ideas</a> is a thorny issue in video games, just look at Puzz Loop, Zuma, Luxor, Stoneloops! of Jurassica, etc. However, a freely available, honourable remake with proper credit, and done in flash so it wouldn't work on an iPhone might just avoid any problems...

Sorry for the bad news, but thanks for the comment and I'm really glad you enjoyed Triple Pop.

My job was less 'game design' and more 'write a document that will convince person A at Random-Big-Company to entrust us their money'. As time went on it wasn't hard to do, given that our ever increasing reputation almost always preceded us - and that was thanks to you, Nick, Cam and several other incredibly talented people! Good times.

Wow, my first ever comment! Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on the post, I really appreciate it. I must admit, I hadn't spent much time on the XYplorer forums, but I'll have a look now. I've never had much call to ask about stuff or report things. I did have a bug once where a popup menu appeared on the wrong monitor of my multi monitor setup, and I emailed Donald Lessau about it. He fixed the problem in no time at all, and in return I submitted a review to <a href="http://www.snapfiles.com/opinions/TrackerV3/TrackerV3.html" rel="nofollow">snapfiles.com</a>. Makes you wish all product support was as friendly and easy :-)

Thanks for the kind comments re my favorite app/author! Nice to see somebody taking the time to write up a positive review of the product. I presume you participate in the XY beta forums? If not, you should!
